Over the course of 24 years, I've been a Consultant, a district and regional manager, I've served on various consulting boards, and I've had a chance to meet so many wonderful Carlisle people from around the country. I always say that my family and friends are what's most important, but Carlisle is right there, too. One of my clients was on vacation and another woman came up to her and said, "You look fabulous! Who is your Carlisle Consultant?" My client told her and the woman said, "Oh, I know Kay. I'm a consultant myself in Pittsburgh." It's really like a family.
It's a full career: Carlisle gives you a goal, but it allows you to be independent about how you achieve those goals. The business succeeds to the extent that you put work into it. People become Consultants for different reasons, but, whatever the reason, we all love what we do.
Carlisle Consultants are famous for client service, no matter what the client's situation. What was an example of a particularly unusual or interesting situation involving a client?
To me, the relationships with clients are what it's all about. I just love working with these women and these clothes, and here's a story that exemplifies why I do it:
I had a client who was working for a company whose employees were predominately male. The CEO called for a gathering of the female executives of the company to get their input. She called me and said she needed something new to wear to this meeting. She needed something sharp, and she needed something fast. In five days. I chose an outfit for her, had it shipped overnight, had a rushed alteration at the tailor, and then she was ready to go by the time the meeting came around. Soon after the meeting, she discovered that she was chosen from amongst all the other women there to receive an enormous promotion. Now this is a very bright, capable woman, but there's no question that having those quality clothes made her feel more confident, and that projected confidence no doubt helped her.
