The palette's richly hued. Cut with some surprising brights. CINNABAR is red at it's spiciest—a new scarlet. CAMEL and OLIVE are classic, warm and earthy together or in combo with black. Supersaturated shades take daytime by storm. There's the deep purple of Concord GRAPE and an unexpected bolt of LIME green. Ultramodern are grisaille shades of GRAPHITE the classic grey of flannel and GUNMETAL sexy metallic blue-grey.
BLACK plays well with hushed hues of HEATHER GREY and ICE BLUE and a sultry RED that's more burgundy than bright. Ultra-chic is creamy CUSTARD. Glamorous is BLACK played against hot flashes of yellow-green CHARTREUSE; a brash dash of FUCHSIA; and a radiant ROUSSEAU TURQUOISE filled with light. COFFEE BEAN is pure couture, the darkest of chocolates. Warming the neutral palette are the burnished orange of CLEMENTINE and muted turquoise of BLUE LAGOON.

Layers of the luxury you love. Suits are big news: done with skirts in ribbon-trimmed cinnabar plaid and leopard-lined olive/black/teal checks; paired with pants and a hip hint of retro in swing-jacketed black. Leather perfect in a little camel/black jacket—cropped, snapped, fully reversible—jazzy with blacks, snazzy as a suit with a camel satin-appliquéd black wool A-line. You can't beat the modern style of a belted, ribbed, turtlenecked, cap-sleeved cardigan over a tonal jersey jewelneck and camel/black houndstooth pant. Dresses sizzle with glamour and one won't be enough: the little black jersey superchic night-and-day.

New hues are a must. Our topper du jour is a sashed iridescent taffeta wrap that gives the trench a run for its money. Like nothing already in your Fall closet is a thigh-grazing grape jersey solid cardigan. Cut to the chase in animal print blouses—fringe-scarved Concord grape or ruffle-shouldered graphite. Do lunch in a scoopy little black/Concord grape sequined top and skinny stretch velvet pant because what was once restricted to night is now all the rage by day. Guaranteed to make you happy is a black leather skirt that lends sex appeal to a plush lime/black plaid shawl-collared jacket and everything else you wear it with. Our favorite thing: the wow-factor of a chunky lime wool cableknit cardigan over a soft hug of a lime jersey turtleneck dress.

Modern looks to run about in. The top story is the sweater set—rethought, revamped, ready to do anything a jacket does. Of indefinable charm are milano-stitched merino wool cardigans—chain-trimmed in graphite, jacket-styled in ice blue—twinned with sleeveless shells. Sparkling plenty are black/silver metallic jersey lurex-striped foil-print twins over a luxe metallic leather skirt. The newest suit is a cool collaboration of master-tailored graphite melange over a beaded-silk-habotai-appliquéd graphite skirt. Kind of French and hip and pastel-perfect is an ice blue princess-seamed turtle for sweater girls in the know. You’ll want to pick-up a pastel jacket for its hushed hue, rich texture and military bearing; and a cute little ice blue/charcoal houndstooth duo, the skirt and reversible vest are mixed or matched.

Don't shy away from the ultra-chic. Five super-sophisticated knits splice together in a multitude of ways: start with custard wool jersey suiting—long mandarin-collared jacket, slim skirt; add a custard bow-trimmed turtle for tonal chic; double-team the jackets over a striking black/custard lattice-appliquéd wool jersey sleeveless dress for the ultimate in ultra-chic. Four avant-garde blacks—cummerbund-sashed jacket and three-piece suiting of long seamed jacket, straight-leg pant and pegged skirt—fit your every plan. Wear them together or pair the pant and skirt with fabulous flights of bright like sashed taffeta jacket of emerald. Couture details are everywhere—the gorgeous cocktail coat and dress in chartreuse and black satin with cutout shoulders.

Wrappy, cozy, sporty. Great pieces that shake up your Fall wardrobe. The jacket required: a plush raglan-sleeved, pleat-cuffed clementine/bone/black plaid that updates all your blacks. Fall’s perfect black suit: maxi-houndstooth checkmates of long, lean jacket and pegged skirt. Autumn hues that warm the neutral palette: clementine done in a shawl-collared cropped cardigan and button-shouldered jewelneck; and lagoon blue in cardigan twins for lunch in the village. Set the fashion bar high with the couture of coffee bean: shake up the mix in a skirt layered with rows of tweed-on-techno; give cheeky chic a whirl in a stretch jersey dress sashed, turtlenecked and studded with nailheads; let the fur fly in a head-over-heels wool jersey cardigan—long, loose, dolman-sleeved, fur-trimmed—that wraps up the season with insouciant style.
